Workshop on Cybersecurity: Building Digital Resilience in a Connected World

The Department of Computer Science at Uttar Bharatiya Sangh’s Mahendra Pratap Sharada Prasad Singh College of Commerce and Science successfully organized an insightful workshop on “Cybersecurity: Secure Today, Safe Tomorrow” on 20th July 2026 in AV Room 201. The workshop witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 50 students, who gained valuable insights into safeguarding themselves in today’s increasingly interconnected digital world.
In an age where technology permeates every aspect of life—from education and communication to banking and commerce—cybersecurity has become an essential life skill. Recognizing the growing importance of digital safety, the Department of Computer Science organized this interactive workshop to enhance students’ awareness of cyber threats, data protection, and responsible digital practices.
The resource person for the session was Mr. Prakash Lokhande, Institutional Partnership & Training Associate at Pratham InfoTech Foundation. With over 15 years of experience as an educator, trainer, and counsellor, Mr. Lokhande delivered an engaging and informative session, sharing practical strategies to help students navigate the digital landscape securely and responsibly.
The workshop covered several important aspects of cybersecurity, including the identification of emerging cyber threats such as phishing attacks, social engineering, identity theft, and malware. Students were introduced to best practices for online safety, including creating strong passwords, implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA), securing Wi-Fi networks, and maintaining privacy across digital platforms. Through real-world case studies, participants gained a deeper understanding of common cyber incidents and the preventive measures required to mitigate such risks. The session also highlighted the growing significance of cybersecurity awareness in enhancing career readiness across both technical and non-technical professions.
An interactive question-and-answer session provided students with an opportunity to seek guidance on practical concerns related to social media security, safe online banking, digital privacy, and identifying fraudulent websites and links. Responding to these queries with practical examples and actionable advice, Mr. Lokhande encouraged students to become responsible digital citizens and serve as “Cyber Ambassadors” within their families and communities.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the esteemed resource person for his valuable contribution. Appreciation was also extended to Principal Dr. Swati Parab, the faculty members of the Department of Computer Science, and the student volunteers for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the successful conduct of the workshop.
The workshop reinforced the institution’s commitment to equipping students with essential digital competencies and fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness.
