Programme Report:
The Department of B.Com., in collaboration with the Dr. Reddy Foundation, organized a seminar on “Communication Skills and Communicative English” on 22 July 2026 at 10:30 a.m. The session was conducted by Mr. Sakib Shaikh, an experienced communication skills trainer.
The programme commenced with the welcome and introduction of the resource person by Ms. Shrutika Khot, who highlighted the importance of communication skills in today’s competitive world. Mr. Sakib Shaikh was felicitated by Ms. Rashmi Singh, Head of the Department of B.Com., as a token of appreciation.
The resource person discussed the four essential language skills, listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and emphasized the significance of positive body language, eye contact, posture, gestures, and self-confidence in effective communication. He shared practical strategies to improve English communication, including regular practice, vocabulary building, overcoming the fear of making mistakes, and developing fluency through consistent effort.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and raising queries. The speaker also explained how effective communication plays a crucial role in interviews, presentations, public speaking, workplace interactions, and overall career development.
The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, followed by a vote of thanks. The programme was well received by the participants and proved to be an enriching learning experience.
