The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the volunteers to take part in various Government led community service activities & programmes. The primary objective is to develop the personality and character of the student youth through voluntary community service.
The motto of National Service Scheme is NOT ME BUT YOU.
Dr. Vijendra Shekhawat is the District Co-ordinator for Mumbai Western Suburb Zone-1.
Mahendra Pratap Sharada Prasad Singh College has an active NSS Unit since its commencement, being the statutory body of University of Mumbai. The college management has entrusted all the necessary facilities for the smooth conduct of the activities.
The unit strength is 100 volunteers (1 unit). The unit has so far been relentless in implementing and supporting new activities each time for the benefit of the society.
National Service Scheme (NSS) is a student oriented program that provides a platform for students to develop their interpersonal skills. Through NSS we can see the visible changes in our volunteers. NSS inculcates and develops leadership qualities in volunteers. NSS helps volunteers to boost their confidence and overall personality development. The community development activities embraced by NSS volunteers not only benefits the society but also contributes to nation building.
