
Report on Library Orientation Programme for First Year Students (Academic Year 2026–2027)
The Library Knowledge Resource Centre of Uttar Bharatiya Sangh’s Mahendra Pratap Sharada Prasad Singh College of Commerce and Science, Bandra (East), Mumbai, successfully organized a Library Orientation Programme for the First Year students of the Academic Year 2026–2027 on 18 July 2026 at 9:40 a.m.
The programme commenced in Room No. 202, where the students were formally welcomed by Asst. Prof. Shweta Borhade, Librarian, who delivered the orientation session. She introduced the newly admitted students to the Library Knowledge Resource Centre and emphasized its vital role in supporting academic excellence, research, lifelong learning, and holistic student development.
During the orientation, students were acquainted with the library membership process, circulation policies, digital library resources, e-resources, library website, reference and information services, reading room facilities, book bank scheme, and best practices for the responsible and effective use of library resources. The session also highlighted the importance of developing strong reading habits and information literacy skills essential for academic success.
Following the presentation, the students participated in a guided tour of the Library Knowledge Resource Centre. They were introduced to various sections of the library, including the circulation counter, reference section, reading room, newspapers and periodicals section, digital resources, and other facilities available to support their academic pursuits. The interactive session encouraged students to seek clarifications regarding library services, and their enthusiastic participation reflected a keen interest in utilizing the library effectively.
The programme was successfully coordinated with the support of the Library Committee members. Asst. Prof. Ghanshyam Jha, Committee Member, assisted in organizing the programme, coordinating the students, and managing the photography. Mr. Ritesh Pandey (S.Y.I.T.), Library Student Representative, efficiently handled the PowerPoint presentation and provided technical support throughout the session. Mr. Aman Dubey (S.Y.C.S.) assisted with videography, ensuring comprehensive documentation of the event.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful organization of the orientation. The session proved to be highly informative and beneficial, enabling the first-year students to become familiar with the library’s resources, services, and facilities. It also inspired them to make optimum use of the Library Knowledge Resource Centre as an integral part of their academic journey.
